What is the Oracle ACE Program?

The Oracle ACE Program is designed to recognize and reward members of the Oracle Technology and Applications communities for their contributions. These individuals are technically proficient and share their knowledge and experiences through presentations, blog posts, articles, social media posts, community forum support and more. The Oracle ACE Program award is given for a one year term and past members are Oracle ACE Alumni.

The program is comprised of 3 levels: Oracle ACE Associate, Oracle ACE, and Oracle ACE Director. The Oracle ACE Associate award is the base level entry into the program for those who are just getting started with their community activities and aspire to contribute at higher levels. The Oracle ACE award recognizes established community contributors for their efforts. The Oracle ACE Director award is for community enthusiasts who not only share their knowledge (usually in extraordinary ways), but also want to increase their advocacy and work more proactively with Oracle to find opportunities for the same.

Who is eligible?

Candidates should be proficient in their area of expertise and demonstrate their willingness to share their knowledge and experience. Areas of contribution or activity include but are not limited to:

  • Forum participation, including community.oracle.com and StackOverflow
  • Content submissions such as technical papers, articles, code samples, utilities
  • Oracle book authorship
  • Oracle-related blogs
  • Speaking at conferences or at online events, including user group events, webinars, and meetups
  • Open source projects on GitHub
  • User group and/or meet-up leadership
  • Participation in Oracle programs such as the Customer Reference Program

Please note Oracle employees are not eligible to participate in the program.

How do I make a nomination and can I nominate myself?

You can nominate yourself for consideration for the Oracle ACE Associate and Oracle ACE levels. Oracle ACE Director nominations must include both an Oracle product manager and an Oracle ACE Director reference and cannot be submitted by the candidate or the candidate’s co-worker. Please fill out the application in as much detail as possible. For each community contribution, include a URL link so the activity can be verified. Award recipients will be selected based on their qualifications. You can submit a nomination here.

What are the types of contributions considered for acceptance into the Oracle ACE Program?

Contributions include but are not limited to:

  • Technical Oracle-related blog posts
  • Live conference and offline presentations, including Oracle User Group conferences, webcasts, and webinars
  • Technical articles published by a reputable third party
  • User group volunteer positions
  • Social media links
  • Books
  • Podcasts
  • Technical forum contributions (community.oracle.com, GitHub, etc.)

When entering a nomination, please only include contributions from the last 12 months.

Who makes the decision about entry into the program?

Oracle ACE nominations are reviewed monthly by the Oracle ACE Program team and relevant product managers (based on the candidate's area of expertise).

How long is the nomination review period?

The nomination review period takes approximately 4-12 weeks. We will notify the nominator via email as soon as the nomination review has been completed. For questions about your submission or the Oracle ACE Program, please email oracle-ace_ww@oracle.com.

What happens if I don’t have enough contributions to be accepted into the program?

The Oracle ACE Program office will email you with suggestions on what contributions are needed to become a stronger candidate for the program. You can submit a new nomination 9 months after your nomination decline decision.

Who qualifies as an Oracle ACE Associate?

This level is ideal for community advocates who are building their reputations. An ACE Associate contributes in the community for at least one year

What are the expectations for an Oracle ACE Associate?

Enthusiasm and commitment to increase their community participation level to reach Oracle ACE status after a 12 month period.

What are the benefits of being an Oracle ACE Associate?

Benefits include:

  • Recognition and promotion on Oracle Web sites as "Associate" member
  • Profile posted in online Oracle ACE Program Directory
  • Oracle ACE Associate icon added to Oracle Discussion Forum profile as well as published article bylines

This level is comprised of established Oracle advocates who have been sharing their knowledge with the community for at least three years.

What is the difference between Oracle ACE Associate and Oracle ACE?

Oracle ACE Associate is the entry point for anyone who is new to contributing in the community and has demonstrated activism in at least two areas. An Oracle ACE has an established and respected community profile in several different areas.

How do I get promoted from an Oracle ACE Associate to Oracle ACE?

Oracle ACE Associates are automatically reviewed during the annual review in June for their eligibility to be promoted if they have been a program member for at least 6 months. If you feel you meet the requirements, email the Oracle ACE program to request a review at oracle-ace_ww@oracle.com.

What expectations does Oracle have of an Oracle ACE?

The Oracle ACE award is given to individuals for a one-year period (June 1 – May 31) as recognition of their consistent community contributions. Once in the program, a member can continue to receive the Oracle ACE award annually based on a review each year in June for the previous 12 months of activity.

What is an Oracle ACE Director?

This level is comprised of top-tier community members who not only have been sharing their knowledge with the community for years, but who also participate in an ongoing dialog with Oracle and the people who use Oracle products in the "real world." Oracle ACE Directors are also known to their peers as experts in their area of focus.

Who qualifies as an Oracle ACE Director?

Above and beyond those of an Oracle ACE, Oracle ACE Director qualifications include:

  • Track record of major contributions to the community, technical and/or community-oriented
  • Exceptional communication skills (contributions can be in native language or English)
  • Reputation in the community as a thought leader in their area of expertise
  • Ability to commit to participation in an honorary (non-compensated) capacity for 12 months
  • Regularly communicates and interacts with the local community
  • Provides feedback to Oracle
  • Maintains an active Oracle-related blog
  • Presents at conferences and community meet-ups
  • Regularly posts answers and comments in Oracle Discussion Forums

What does Oracle provide for ACE Directors?

  • Promotion as an official expert on Oracle Web sites and at Oracle events
  • Profile posted in online Oracle ACE Program Directory
  • Quarterly briefings with Oracle product management
  • Access to and briefings with the product development/strategy teams
  • "Fast-track" publication of articles and papers on developer.oracle.com

What commitment is required of an Oracle ACE Director?

Candidate must commit to the program for a 12 month period. Within that timeframe, the following is expected:

First 3 months:

Expected:
  • Attend at least one Web conference with the product team
  • Subscribe to the appropriate Oracle developer newsletter
  • Provide feedback to Oracle product management on a regular basis throughout the year
Preferred:
  • Launch/maintain Oracle-related blog

First 6 months:

Expected:
  • Attend regular Web conferences with product team
  • Participate/present at a local Oracle event
  • Launch Oracle-related blog
Plus one or more of the following:
  • Present at a non-Oracle event
  • Publish an developer.oracle.com article/note (compensation provided)

Within 12 months:

Expected:
  • Attend most Web conferences with product team
  • Present at local Oracle event(s)
  • Present at non-Oracle event
  • Launch/maintain Oracle-related blog
  • Publish an developer.oracle.com article/note (compensation provided)

An annual review will be conducted to determine if the Oracle ACE Director will receive the award for a consecutive year.

Will I be paid as an ACE Director?

No. Upon acceptance we ask that you agree to participate in an honorary, non-compensated capacity. We do provide travel support to Oracle ACE Directors delivering eligible presentations at conferences.

Nominations are open to the public and require sponsorship by both an Oracle product manager and Oracle ACE Director reference. Nominations cannot be submitted by a co-worker. A nomination committee will evaluate the submitted nomination as well as validate credentials and areas of expertise. Recipients will be selected based on their qualifications. Oracle reserves the right to final judgment on all submitted nominations. If you meet the above criteria, your nominator should select Oracle ACE Director in the nomination form.

I'm an Oracle ACE and I want to become an Oracle ACE Director; what do I need to do?

If you feel you are viewed as a thought leader in the Oracle community and you meet the requirements, have your Oracle product manager reference select Oracle ACE Director on the nomination app.

What is an Oracle ACE Alumnus?

An alumnus is a past Oracle ACE Program member.
