Cocreator of Apache Hadoop

 

Apache Lucene, Nutch, Hadoop, Avro. Doug founded all these open source projects. He was Apache chairman for three years and served for six years on the board of directors.

Neha Narkhede

Cofounder and CTO of Apache Kafka

 

Passionate about building large-scale data systems, Neha is the cofounder and head of engineering at Confluent, and cocreator of the Apache Kafka logging system. (Not bad for a career spanning just ten years.)

Charles Nutter

Coleader of JRuby

 

Charles leads the JRuby project, which brings together the beauty of Ruby and the power of Java Virtual Machine. We thought it was high time he was recognized for his irrepressible support of open source and open standards.

Graeme Rocher

Creator of Grails

 

Graeme leads the groundbreaking development of the Grails framework at OCI. He’s also project lead of the Open Source Grails web-application framework and co-author of 'The Definitive Guide to Grails'.

Guido van Rossum

Creator of Python

 

Guido created the Python language in 1989 and until June 2018 was the community's Benevolent Dictator For Life. Read more about why he stepped down from that position to focus on creating a more inclusive Python community.
